About this tool
Fit and center each visible source page into a cell of a new sheet. Choose 2, 4, 6 or 9 pages per sheet, row or column reading order and paper orientation. Review the page-to-sheet plan and actual exported thumbnails; your original stays unchanged.
Common uses
- Create compact reading copies with several source pages per sheet.
- Prepare slides or mixed-size documents with controlled margins and reading order.
How to use it
- 1.Choose one PDF, inspect original thumbnails, dimensions and rotations.
- 2.Choose paper, pages per sheet, reading order, margin and gap. Check source-page sheet/slot and scale.
- 3.Create the N-up PDF, inspect all output sheets including the last partial sheet and download.
N-up examples
Five pages in 4-up row order
5 visible pages100×140 pt; target320×320 pt; 4-up; rows; margin15 pt; gap10 pt
Sheets: 2 Source order: [1,2,3,4] | [5] Cell: 140 × 140 pt; scale100% Page1 bottom-left: x35 y165 pt
The two-by-two grid reads across rows. The final sheet has only page5; three cells stay blank.
Seven pages in 6-up column order
7 visible pages100×140 pt; target320×470 pt; 6-up; columns; margin15 pt; gap10 pt
Sheets: 2 Source order: [1,2,3,4,5,6] | [7] Page2 bottom-left: x35 y165 pt Page4 bottom-left: x185 y315 pt
Portrait 6-up has two columns and three rows. Column order fills the left column first, then the right.
Limits and notes
- One PDF up to 10 MiB and 100 source pages; output up to 40 MiB. Reading, worker processing and rendering each have a cancellable 30-second deadline. Compressed streams can still consume substantial memory; no hard decoded-memory cap is claimed.
- Choose A4/A3/A5/Letter/Legal or custom width/height in pt, mm or in. Target edges are 1–10000 pt; margins and gaps are finite 0–10000 pt and must leave every cell at least 1 pt wide/high. 1 in = 72 pt, 1 mm = 72/25.4 pt. Unit changes convert custom sizes, margin and gap.
- 2-up uses 1 column×2 rows on portrait paper or 2×1 on square/landscape; 6-up uses 2×3 or 3×2; 4-up uses 2×2 and 9-up 3×3. Start at top-left: row order goes left-to-right then down; column order goes down then right. Source pages keep physical order in the chosen reading sequence; unused cells on the last sheet remain blank.
- Each page uses one proportional fit scale, may enlarge, and is centered in its cell. Displayed CropBox/MediaBox intersection and quarter rotations are honored; output sheets use Rotate 0. Smaller cells can make text difficult to read. This is not booklet/duplex imposition, lossless rendering or redaction; embedded streams can retain hidden content. Annotations, links, explicit auxiliary boxes, document bookmarks, tags, metadata and digital signatures are not preserved. Invalid geometry, non-default UserUnit, encrypted PDFs, AcroForms and signature permissions reject. Blank pages consume a slot and stay blank.
- Original/output thumbnails use a 160px maximum edge, omit annotations and may omit source images above 2 million pixels. Rendering failure prevents download. Settings, reset, new files and locale changes invalidate prior output. Inspect downloaded text at full size; no upload, input persistence or external PDF resource lookup.
Frequently asked questions
Does the last sheet repeat pages to fill it?
No. Each source page appears once, in the chosen reading order. Unused cells on the last sheet remain blank.
Is this a booklet or duplex print layout?
No. It uses straightforward row or column ordering on each sheet. Booklet/duplex printing needs a separate verified imposition workflow.
