About this tool

Generate short random IDs from a configurable alphabet.

Common uses

  • Generate short random IDs from a configurable alphabet.
  • Choose a length from 4 to 64, a count from 1 to 100 and an alphabet containing at least two distinct characters.

How to use it

  1. 1.Choose a length from 4 to 64, a count from 1 to 100 and an alphabet containing at least two distinct characters.
  2. 2.Generate and copy the newline-separated IDs.

Limits and notes

  • Repeated alphabet characters are removed. The default alphabet contains underscore and tilde, so it is not identical to every Nano ID implementation’s default alphabet; collisions are not checked.
  • Use an ASCII alphabet for predictable IDs: selection indexes UTF-16 code units, so supplementary Unicode characters can be split.
